I've been realizing lately that I don't have very many hobbies anymore. I used to be very involved in a church but, since I'm pretty agnostic these days and haven't belonged to a church in several years, I am no longer. Once my depression hit full-force I lost the majority of my friend group (except for one person) and kind of forgot what I liked to do. I like to read, write, go for walks and to bake. I used to run but, due to the fact that I don't have any cartilage in my hip, I'm no longer able to do that. I also used to be in to photography but I sold my camera and gear (I have a little point-and-shoot so... I suppose I could use that.) I have a few hobbies, I guess, but they're all solitary things. I know, I know, wah-wah. But I'd like to build new relationships both romantic and otherwise eventually and I don't seem very interesting. Not without any hobbies. I just...don't know what I like to do and don't feel like I do anything. (What, am I supposed to list my DBT group? Don't think so.) Believe me, I've already looked into the Meetup.com groups (I think I go to one meetup every few months because I'm usually unavailable or they are already full) and as I've mentioned, joining a church group is out as I'm agnostic and not interested in going to church. The point of this post is to see what things you all are in to. What are your hobbies?
Thanks for this!

Um, I am kinda trying to find myself too...lets see...I like to read, and I like to write poetry...I used to run and do Zumba and martial arts, but I cannot physically do that right now either...so my hobby list is a bit pitiful.

Sorry that didn't help a lot! I like to bake, and I like going on Pinterest to see what kind of cute baking things can be come up with next. Pinterest is pretty cool, and it seems quite a few bakers/crafter people are on it.

I do like to bake. Maybe that can be my thing. I can bake for my coworkers. I don't know. I thought about buying a road bike so that I can go biking when the weather warms up. The problem is that it costs a lot of money to buy one and I have other things I need to spend my money on. Craigslist is helpful for that but...I don't know. That's one option.

I suppose I don't need to have a huge list. I like to read, write, bake, go for walks on the trails, go to live concerts (small and large), I'm a huge Detroit Tigers fan, I like to bowl and play pool even though I'm really bad at both, I like to kayak even though I've only been once... that's not a terrible list, is it?
Thanks for this!

That's a pretty great list!!! I had thought about a bike too...! I think you have a lot of great hobbies and they are a good start for getting to know someone, as you mentioned you were wanting to do in your first post...!

Thanks. Maybe I'm just being too hard on myself, as usual. I just feel like I'm such a boring person. I hear myself talking and I'm like, "Oh, my goodness, how is this other person not falling asleep listening to me?" I'm really, really self-critical. But... I think that's part of the BPD. Fun times.

I have also lost most of my hobbies and I'm living in an area I don't know well. The things I do is primarily solitary. I honestly this is going to fit most BPDs particularily as we get older. When younger, we tried to be social and be part of a group. Now, it's more like to h*ll with it.

I used to belong to a bowling league that I enjoyed quite a bit. I don't know if you could do it with your hip or not. It wrecked havoc on me with my messed up knees. If you can get over the social phobia, I'd recommend something like that.

I probably could, I'm just terrible at bowling and am not good enough for a league. My hip doesn't actually hurt that much and I could run on it if I wasn't at the point where running would probably cause more damage.

I don't have that much social phobia; I do pretty well with that (I think growing up as an only child I had to be outgoing despite the fact that I'm an introvert). I just don't know how to be social that well so I come off as stand-offish. Other than that, people don't really freak me out so much anymore.

A lot of leagues are not competitive and just play for fun. I often didn't break 100 but a lot of others didn't either.

I love to read, play video games, watch movies and shows.

Reading - love to read fiction stories, especially Stephen King and Koontz. I also started reading non-fiction books but when I'm feeling down, I rather the fiction.

Video games - I play anything.

Shows - walking dead, dexter, game of thrones, boardwalk empire.

Also love going out with a few friends and playing some sports, or going for a bite to eat.

i crochet now. it's the only thing i seem to do anymore.

i used to write and draw. i rode my bike every day and did 200 crunches. i'd cuddle with my cats.

no cats anymore because of the kids, no exercise because of a busted ankle that never healed, and no writing or drawing because i have to have complete silence to do either and with kids and a husband who likes to watch comedians or explosive movies that's impossible.

so i crochet. i need noise to do it mindlessly and i can drop it and know where i'm at and get up with my kids.

i have made a name for myself in my church, i guess. so i guess i'm the crochet girl...
