So, last night there was a meltdown at my house. As usual, it was me and my dad that really had it out. My brother tried to pretend he wasn't there (which he always does when he's in trouble) and mom just waited for the shouting to stop so she could act as mediator. I've been expecting something like this for a while, so it didn't surprise me, but that didn't make it any less stressful. My eyes were so swollen this morning that I had to press a cold cloth to them for half an hour before they looked more normal. At present things are calm, but I'll be on edge for days.

Take one day, one moment, at a time. That's all you can do. Best wishes for it being a little less stressful for a while. I understand stress at home....very well.

I'm sorry it was so stressful for you. I hate those mornings waking up after crying when your eyes are so swollen...I know it feels awful. PS Try spoons. I put spoons in the freezer and then press the backs of the frozen spoons up against my (shut) eyes. It helps the swelling. Just make sure your eyes are dry first.

It's complicated. Plants were killed through negligence, not much is done around the house, etc.
Not to mention the fact that everything I say is wrong in these situations.

I think we're both part right. I meant to put "hoy vey". I'm pretty sure that's right, though, because I think the term is Spanish.

ahhh the term I was referring to is originally Yiddish, meaning "good grief" or a similar exclamation.

I've got this thing for origins of languages and meanings. "Oy Vay" or "Hoy Vay" are both correct, and it is Yiddish, not Spanish, basicially meaning "Good Grief", but has a few more derogatory meanings as well. So there, you're both right! One thing to keep in mind that Yiddish, like Arabic, is not derived from same written alphabet as what we use, therefore, when translated in to English the spelling comes out in different ways.
Thanks for this!
