I was wondering if people could recommend any books you've found helpful? Or any books you wouldn't recommend?
I started reading 'The Angry Heart'... Maybe I'll get back to it..
Also I started 'Get me out of here'

I read "Lost in the Mirror". I found it very helpful. Not too technical. Supposedly I don't have BPD. But I sure saw allot of myself in that book!
Thanks for this!

Hey Fuzzy, I have not read any books on BPD per say, except what I told you about. What do you think of the books you started?

Other than that I am not of much use…

Think you got some ideas above.

I read two memoirs: Loud in the House of Myself: Memoir of a Strange Girl by Stacy Pershall and liked it quite a bit. I also read The Buddha and the Borderline: My Recovery from Borderline Personality Disorder through Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Buddhism, and Online Dating by Kiera Van Gelder and didn't care for it at all. I felt that the book could be triggering for some people, that it was too "all over the place," and that I didn't think Kiera demonstrated any real empathy or remorse for what she did to people in the course of her illness (and she kind of left a path of destruction in her wake at some points). It wasn't really a great book for a borderline who would like a good example of recovery to read, in my opinion.

The First Book I Ever Read was New Hope for People with Borderline Personality Disorder. It is very good and he goes in to major detail on how our experiences when we were young affected us and caused us to develop this disorder. It's a little disturbing, at least for me. Brought back a few memories I didn't necessarily keeping under wraps, and it does get a bit technical towards the end, but it's a very, very good read.

I've read "Lost in the Mirror" and found it to provide me with a little bit of hope for the future, despite the disorder. I could relate in many ways. The book is written for the "average Joe" to read, it isn't too technical or vague, and I liked that aspect as well.

Best wishes to you

I liked Get Me Out of Here and I learned a lot in Understanding the Borderline Mother by Christine Larson.

I'd highly recommend Stop Walking on Eggshells:Taking Your Life Back When Someone You Care About Has Borderline Personality Disorder

While intended for non-BPDs in relationships with BPDs (this included family and friends as well as romantic) it is a great resource for spotting negative behaviours in yourself and learning to deal with them before those relationships are compromised.

The best borderline book i ever read was "I Hate You--Don't Leave Me: Understanding the Borderline Personality" by Jerold J. Kreisman. He explain it very well how and what it is and also put very good examples, i totally recommend it. Check Amazon

I actually bought Living in the Dead Zone: Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison... the book claims that they had BPD and helps you to understand the disorder, I thought it would be an interesting read but totally forgot I had it, maybe I'll start reading it.
Thanks for this!
