Such a measured level headed response. So "he got a new one ripped" did that resolve anything or achieve anything remotely productive?

Interesting that you chose to post in the BPD forum section

Which probably did nothing but prove his point.

Hearing that diagnosis can really hurt for sure.

Remember this: Medical opinions are not absolute and often change over time. A doctor who meets with you for the first time and diagnoses a personality disorder within a few minutes is irresponsible.

Try finding a therapist (not a psychiatrist) who specializes in trauma and works in the community.

What treatment did the psychiatrist suggest?

hi Phreak ... i posted in this forum coz that's what this doc says i got.

it didn't achieve anything bawling him out, but he was called in by the emergency mh team coz i'd tried to kill myself, he ignored that fact, didn't ask me any questions, totally dismissed all mine and just announced that going by my history notes (all he's got) that i'm bpd ... so yeah, bawling him out then storming out the room was maybe not productive but how i felt.

unlived ... i suppose so.

greentiresme ... not one little bit

The_little_didgee ... he suggested therapy which is usually 1 hr a week here. my care team (despite agreeing with his diagnosis, based on knowing me 16 yrs) did advice me to ask for second opinion on grounds of him only seeing me this once and it being just one mans opinion. they're currently looking to get me a therapist for after detox.
