Hi all,

I have been getting these weird sounds in my head....started off as gun then as explosion so I googled explosion in my brain and an actual syndrome came up called 'exploding head syndrome' Luckily I will keep my head but it wont go away. I mean, when I hear them they are as loud as the actual thing and it scares the living daylights out of me!

Luckily now they haven't been around for a while but am left with this sound of an electrical zap in my brain and feel myself rattle when it happens. I read it can be something to do with meds, so just wondering if anyone else has had this?

Hugs from:

Something like this happened to me once when I was falling asleep.. I was super stressed out, mind racing, sleep deprived and I was finally drifting off to sleep when I heard a super loud gunshot in my head.. it seemed so real, I woke up instantly in a panic.

I've had this happen a few times. Usually when I've missed a few doses of my medication.

I experienced something similar, but it was a sensation rather than a noise. It started when I stopped taking Zoloft, and it lasted for a few months. I also get hallucinations (hypnagogic) before I fall asleep. These are usually auditory, such as loud noises and people talking.

This same thing has happened to me quite a few times when I was just on the verge of falling asleep. I just assumed it was a sound that was magnified in my mind while I was in that dream-like state, which is probably exactly what it was. My neighbors are always banging around--for me, it was probably something like that.

I've had brain zaps from cymbalta withdrawal. It was horrible.
Gun shot & explosion sounds additionally! I'm so sorry, hope you are ok.
