When a child’s emotional needs are not met and a child is repeatedly hurt and abused, this deeply and profoundly affects the child’s development. Wanting those unmet childhood needs in adulthood. Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.

the article didn't bother me too much, as the only mention is hidden in the middle
Quote:
The Department of Behavioral Health believe that Ms. Rigsby, 58, is bipolar and borderline personality disorder.
it's one of the comments at the end that gets me fuming.

Ugh. I can't stand people who have borderline personality disorder. I don't think it is a real disorder. I think it is just a selfish person who wants attention.
Reading through it (unless i missed something) doesn't sound like shes ever had an official diagnosis.

My opinion is that her behavior -constantly falling to the floor and getting the paramedics and ambulances to her and then refusing their help, Could be considered as being a danger to herself and others. And She certainly needs a proper assessment.
