Just a new idea for a thread. What is one thing you'd change about your past or present life that you think would have a major influence on your BPD or your life outcome. I know it's all hypothetical and that there's nothing we can do, but why not?

I would change my mom's opinion of me so maybe she would raise me right and treat me right so maybe I could have avoided a lot of this stuff in the first place.

If I could change one thing...I would want my twin sister to not be disabled, because I think that is a lot of the reason I and my family are the way they are.

If I could change one thing it would be my MIL, since I can't change her I need to be the bigger person and change my attitude about her with boundaries.

If I could change one thing in my life? Me. The only thing that I have any kind of control in, and it's the only thing worth even pondering. All else is just a chasing after the wind, fruitless and a way to get my mind spinning it's wheels.

I can and am working on changing me. Anything else is wishful thinking.

Feel the same, glad we're getting a new year, all the demons of my past need to become lessons for the future.

I agree that the only thing that we can change is ourselves. That doesn't mean it's easy, but it's the only thing we have direct control of.

There are a million things I wish I could change... but it's driven me to the edge thinking about "what if...". I guess right now I'm just trying to move forward and work on NOT making any more regrets.
