im in an emotinal skills class. today we were working on observing and describing an emotion we were feeling. i find that extremely hard. i don't know how i feel most of the time. its like im completely empty inside. even when i do have a feeling, its muted.

Learning emotions is hard to do. For most of us we have denied our emotions for so long we forget what they feel like. It really is a skill. Good luck.

I find I am constantly overwhelmed by my emotions and that is why I find it hard to observe and describe as usually I'm pulled right in with the wave.

That is one of the hardest skills to learn. Just because you can't describe an emotion doesn't mean you don't have any, it's just hard to figure out what we're feeling sometimes. I often feel really empty too, and I consider that an emotional state. I can't just feel neutral, I feel empty.

That's exactly how I feel most of the time. Empty, or I don't know what I'm feeling. It's really frustrating when people ask me about what I'm feeling and the best answer I have is "I don't know." Then they think I'm lying or don't want to tell them, but I really don't know. I don't feel anything most of the time.
