Hello there guys!
I would like to start this thread by saying that I did not join this site for help in my Psychology classes. I am diagnosed with a personality disorder myself and I joined for the community. That saying, I am going to present you this opportunity to make my research more intriguing and personable.
I am currently working on an anonymous case study for my Abnormal Psych class. I have correctly diagnosed the patient with Borderline Personality Disorder. I am fully aware of the symptoms/diagnostic criteria for the disorder, but I would like to bring up questions on the therapy techniques and treatment used by mental health professionals. I have done plenty of research on the topic, yet it seems so impersonal and hard to grasp how the treatment actually affects the patient.
If you have been diagnosed, and are currently (or previously) being treated for the disorder, I would love to hear your personal accounts on the techniques used.
For example: Did you undergo group or individual sessions, or both? Did your therapist use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and/or Therapeutic Alliance? Did any of these actually help you? Or if you are not sure what kind of method was used in your treatment, just hearing your story is enough for me.
I will not be quoting or plagiarizing your narratives, this is only for my own personal need to achieve a greater grasp on the subject and to connect with the community of this site.
Thanks so much,
-O
