I know TFP is not supportive therapy but should I continue if I hate going and I feel that, while I have serious issues to work through, I do have a sense of self and that is being undermined? The therapist's answer is that whatever happens between us in his office is what happens between me and others in my life and I see the truth in that. I want this to work but I would like some idea of whether these consistent and strong negative feelings toward the way the therapy is being conducted mean that I should find another therapist or therapy. I have been with this therapist for 3 months.

I would give it more time. Three months is not enough time to establish a good relationship with the person or the therapy in general. Hope you come to a decision that is best for you though.
Thanks for this!

Transference Focused Psychotherapy - it's a psychodynamic approach as opposed to cognitive or behavioral therapy.
