Is it normal to quickly fall in love with someone, and have a lot of emotional attachment to them? I mean I met this guy, and he's really nice. We hung out for a few weekends and I developed a major crush that seems to have evolved into something else. I am diagnosed BPD, but I haven't had symptoms in a long time. I mean I have this obsessiveness maybe is the word. I don't know. Anyways is it normal for someone with BPD to go from first meeting them to a crush to a feeling of love for them in a quick succession? We are friends and I am trying to keep it like that on my end, but I've never felt these emotions come so fast.
Then He moved away to Pittsburgh which is only 2 hrs from here and you would of thought someone died the way I was. Crying, upset, irritable you name it. I dunno, Maybe they are normal emotions I just haven't had them in a long time.

If this is not something typical of you and/or your symptoms then it could arguably be something greater than a crush - it's not wholly unusual to fall in love quickly. That said, obsessiveness, idealization and generally heightened emotional response are all key indicators of BPD. Maybe you're mourning in your own way the loss of someone you felt greatly connected too? That doesn't necessarily have to indicate feelings of love...it's a tricky one and i can see why you're confused so maybe the best course of action is to carefully monitor your feelings over the coming weeks as that's probably the best way to gauge what they mean. Sometimes time is most useful. All the best to you.
