I saw my new T for the first time today. She's of course different from my previous T (moved, so had to terminate with him), but seems just as professional, caring, and capable.
Lately I have been feeling like my emotions are a big ball and chain. They weigh on me every day. Sometimes they hamper my ability to function well. I told her I wish I could put a wall between me and my emotions. We talked about the positive side of having big feelings: the ability to empathize, not spouting trite advice to other people who are feeling bad, being able to recognize the roots of sadness and hurt in people who are mean or uncaring. She suggested that perhaps what I see as my greatest weakness - my overwhelming emotions - might also be harnessed as one of my greatest strengths. I see her point. Today I'd rather be an emotionless robot, but I get it. Thoughts? How do you feel about your emotions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
