For all of the people who have a mental illness and adult children. Do your adult children stay away from you have nothing to do with you want to stay out if your life. If so how do you handle that?

I have one adult child and my issues do not bother him. I am so sorry for you if that is your problem. I would imagine that your children only know of the stigma attached to the illness. If they took some time to learn about the problems you have they might be more understanding and realize what they are missing not being around you.

That's a tough question.
My kids are 10 and 14. But I've often wondered .... When they're older .... And they move out of home ... Would they visit me ..... I'm going to try not to think about it too much while I still have them. |

That sounds harsh if thay is the case for you.
My children are 10 and 13. We are very close. I hope it will always stay that way. |

I have not told my 17 year-old son about any of my mental health issues. I will sit him down and explain it and show him so informative videos and hope he is okay with it.

I used to have that when my boys were in their late teens early twenties,but they are pretty close nowdays.One is 33 the other 28.
They seem to understand now,as they say,they have seen enough of other peoples lives to know that growing up with me could have been a whole worse. So don't ever give up hope
