Recently, I came across some really nice self-help books that help you deal with difficult emotions and think more positive thoughts. They put forth the idea of building an emotional shield around ourselves so as not to let all the negativity in the world affect us and make our lives more miserable than they already are, and are based on the premise that we should not let things that we cannot control affect us. This, I think, is a great idea, and could really help folks with BPD. Building such an emotional shield has been my focus in life recently.

I bought these books in audiobook format, and thought I'd share them with y'all:

1- Emotional Freedom: Liberate Yourself From Negative Emotions and Transform Your Life, by Judith Orloff

2- The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are, by Brene Brown, Ph.D. L.M.S.W.

3- Hardwiring Happiness: The New Brain Science of Contentment, Calm, and Confidence, by Rick Hanson

I plan to listen to these on my long drive to Oregon in the next few days.

I love all of Brene Brown's books. If you get a chance and you haven't seen it yet, head over to the TED talk website and listen to her talk on Shame. She's spot on and while she's getting you to see how shame effects all of us, she makes you laugh. I think she has it posted on You Tube too. Very down-to-earth, inspirational speaker.

Oh wow, thanks so much liliodian.

I must admit I've fallen a bit behind on my reading.

It's really beneficial when I do though.

Wouldn't mind looking at some of your suggestions.
