Today, I'm gonna talk openly to my therapist about my suspicious that I have BPD.
I've been offering her signs but she seems not to understand me or perhaps she doesn't want to alarm me.

I think I never was diagnosed as such bc the psychiatrists only took the visible symptons; that is, depression, social anxiety and avoidance.
A good diagnoses have to be made taking into account the individual's past and evolution.
So, I'm not surprised that I could be another borderline bad diagnosed with anything except the right one.

I'm very concern with a proper diagnoses bc I need the right therapy and to cure me. I'm very tired to have these downs in my life. Life is too much short to throw it on the board and I want to be happy and mainly, make happy my loved people.

There is no question here. I'm writing this bc I wanted to share with you.
The only person I talked about the topic was my partner. He said that it's impossible that I'm not the same as that woman who had a crush on him and phoned me and sent me nasty letters. But, I told him that there are grades in this disorder.

AzulOscuro, I understand your concern. There are overlapping symptoms for different disorders. The important thing is to not only treat an illness but to start the process of recovery and inventing a new identity. Sure you want to stay on medicine and therapy because that is helping too even if you have multiple dx's.

this can be by socializing, going back to school, doing hobbies, joining a group that shares your beliefs, practicing mindfulness, yoga or exercising. If you do these no matter what you are suffering from there is a probability your symptoms will be less pronounced and your focus will be less on overcoming a disease and more on reinventing yourself based on what you want to do with life.

If BPD is important to explore, here are some links
Psych Central - Search results for Borderline personality disorder symptoms

Thank you, CANDC! Your words are very wise.
Well, I told to her and was very honest and she says I haven't got BPD.
She says I have some traits of avoidance and dependency issues.
My concern wasn't for the label. I was very worried bc if I had BPD i wasn't follow the better therapy. You know, DBT and another based on mentalization.

My next step is join to classes to do yoga.
Thank you for your advises, I will follow each one.

Said all that, I'm not gonna leave you, girls. You are fantastic!

No, I'm neither happy or sad. I asked her for telling me what she thought bc I wasn't afraid of any diagnoses. As many of you say here, I'm not sticked to any label. A person is over any label.

Thank you very much for the link about yoga.
Hugs!

And from my part, tell you that the idea of having this disorder gave me the possibility to meet people with borderline and know a little bit about the disorder.
I'm gratefull for this bc I have learnt about all the ****ing stigma and the myths around it so I can understand you all better.

Most psychiatrists and therapists have the wrong idea of what BPD is. Really.

If Only We Had Known

I was diagnosed BPD just over a year ago from a clinical test, not just observation.... Both my psychiatrist and therapist do not categorize me there... One feels paranoid personality disorder along with a ton of comorbids and the other generally refrains from making a conclusion.

Personality disorders diagnosis is a challenge for most MI professionals. The diagnostic criteria is flawed, and being worked on.

My doctors say that I don't need a label... But I have learned so much by researching BPD traits! I feel for you wanting the correct diagnosis.

You're right. And from what I have heart from some professionals BPD is even more difficult to diagnose for several reasons: the knowledge about the disorder is quite new, the great variety of symptons that are displayed beside the unstability of them and the differences between one person and another with the same disorder.

Yep exactly. Plus the stigma and preconceived ideas makes it even harder for them! I go gentle if I can, but I admit this is a sore spot for me.

I think well see personality disorders criteria really change soon... Waiting waiting....

I hope so as well.
Yeah, you named the stigma. That makes lots of hurt on people with this disorders, beside with the myths (for example, manipulation), that makes even harder for relatives and loved people to understand and support their loving person with the disorder.

I have been called liar, manipulative, controlling, selfish, seeker of attention for someone who thinks I have this disorder.

Yeah I really loathe stigma and myths, as I will always continue to say we are all unique.

Please chuck the stigma and myths out the window.

You deserve better because you're worth it.
