The DBT notion of Acceptance reduces suffering.

This is so hard. I suffer from a lot of nausea. Trying to accept this is so hard. It means accepting that I'm incapacitated 3 or 4 days a week. I can barely even move my eyes.

Any suggestions?

I have had good luck with acceptance as a tool to reduce suffering.

Here are some links to help treat nausea.

My perspective is: simply accepting the fact that you have an illness (in this case, your major nausea).

Changing your emotional focus from trying to get back to normal into accepting what is. The hope is that you would be putting yourself through less stress equaling to some relief in physical symptoms. Even if the relief is only partial, it is better than no relief. Hopefully, as time passes, a more lasting cure will be found.

I would imagine that doctors are treating the illness in some way, is that correct? I hope so. Gentle ((( hugs ))) to you.

Just leaving you a quick note to let you know that I am thinking of you

I think that CANDC and shezbut have both given you some fantastic advice, and I'm not sure what more I can add.

I think that the acceptance part is hard, but as hard as what it is, my wish for you is that you are able to find the right strategies in order to carry you through in this difficult situation

I am sorry that you are having to go through this.
Thanks for this!

Hi Jean,

I can empathize so much! I had to go through seroquel withdrawals twice and was left chronically nauseous for a couple months each time! It was horrendous! I would say that nausea is by far one of the worst feelings to have! For me it amounts to torture! I would rather be in deep unending emotional turmoil than be chronically nauseated. You are NOT alone in this!

For me: I had to stop swallowing saliva. That seemed to help ALOT until my withdrawals stopped.

I truly cannot share any effective methods for handling the nausea except effective distraction - fully participating in something - laughing or walking or anything you are capable of doing. That was the only thing that worked for me.

Is your nausea stemming from your mental health?

Just remember - hold on. Nausea is unbearable and I know that feeling of wanting to escape your body and take sleeping pills to avoid the uncomfortable feelings. Just stay strong!
