Let me tell you... My uncle was very depressed for most of his life, but we got him a cocker spaniel poodle mix and he's a hundred times better now. He actually laughs and jokes. I've resolved to get myself a dog, too. After school. Dogs never judge you and won't abandon you. And they think the world of you despite all of your bad qualities. I don't care for relationships or love, I just want a dog and I'll call it a day.

How many of you guys experienced the same thing with dogs?

I agree, I love my dog and he loves me. The amount of times I used to stay up crying and he would always be there to comfort me letting me hug him. I don't get to see much of him anymore which sucks but I still take him out occasionally and when the time is right for me I intend to get another dog

My dogs are my life savers and best buddies and confidants on long walks. Excellent post.
Mother got a pup a year ago, and lives independently and happily in her home. Animals really make a difference IMHO.

My dog makes me happy as do my cats. They don't judge like a lot of humans do to me

I love both dogs and cats (and other animals) very much, but to me, no animal can fully replace the warmth and companionship of another human being, no matter how you slice it or dice it.

I know I'd be happy with a pet in my life, but I also know that I'd be MUCH HAPPIER with a special woman in my life. In fact, with a woman in my life, I'd need nothing and no one else.

(With all due respect)

Dogs always bite me. My wife says they are good judges of character.

LMAO!

My dogs are my life (well not all of my life, but a HUGE part of it). I don't know what I would do without them. I was in the hospital 4 times this summer, and I always cried because I missed them so much. They are my children!

And I agree, dogs never abandon you. With my abandonment issues, maybe that's a big reason why I love them so much.

I love cats, their meows and purr instantly soften me. I'd love to have a dog too, but only if I have the money and time to support them, otherwise, it won't be responsible to get a pet.

My parents' cats make me feel a lot better as well. I only get to see them like once a week these days which is hard sometimes, but I always feel significantly better spending time with them. I'm hoping to get a cat of my own soon to try and help with some of my depression.
