I was trained in this as a psych nurse and found some of the techniques very useful for myself. I think it is a good way to go since it is a really positive approach to coping with symptoms and using specific strategies to deal with feelings/interactions that trigger you. I think it is useful for more than BPD. (plus the woman who developed this suffered from BPD, something she didn't talk about till she was in her 60's, I believe, so she comes from a place of Knowing)

I did a program of DBT a couple of years ago, and found it incredibly helpful But it is hard work. To get the most out of it, you really have to do the homework, and practice the skills between sessions.

I have individual DBT therapy every Friday, and DBT skills group every Thursday. It's been about 6 months now and I really do find it works for me. Like Splitimage said, it is hard work and you really do need to practice. The great thing though, is that you can practice the skills anytime, anywhere, no matter what you are doing.
Good luck! ![]() |

I did it years ago and it does help some, but it was not the springboard to a "life worth living" as they said it would be. Still some help is much better than no help. and it does help.
