Hey lovely people!
I took an OD of medication. I called someone from the ambulance in my country to ask if I will die. He was very cold and told me congratulations on taking them, and he wishes me a happy death! And asked me "is that all?".. He seemed sarcastic and annyed with me. I am very upset with the way he behaved. He seems to not really care at all. He supposed to. It is his job!! What is happening with people nowadays? Do they not have sympathy for others? Anyways, since I have BPD, I can't stop the feeling of hurt and can't stop replaying the incident in my head over and over. You guys have advice for me? |

it's things like this that make my blood boil. why the **** is this person working for an ambulence service if he can't be supportive and understanding? if that was me, I'd ring back, demand to speak to the person in charge, and report them for what they said (it's so unlikely you will get the same person twice, a hell of a lot of people work for the ambulence!) I just hope it's not put you off future calls. you did nothing wrong at all hugs |

What a jerk .. that sort of “person” makes me very angry. In theory I’d phone back and complain. But I probably wouldn’t as the arrogance, cruelty and stupidity of some of these “people” is beyond comprehension ![]() __________________ ![]() |

Wowza, may I ask what you took and how much of it? The -only- thing I can think of is that you took a very non-dangerous amount, or he was having a very bad day. Regardless, that is no reason to say those things.
Even if someone takes 2 tylenol and calls in a panic, the person should be treated with respect. Honestly when I first read your post, the absurdity of what he said gave me a chuckle because it just seems so outlandish that someone would say such things. Humans always continue to surprise me. ![]() |

I have had my fair share of ignorant and un supportive people these include: being told by a chrisis line to stop bothering them and go watch cartoons in sted, and being encouraged to end it all by a therapist. I don't know what's wrong with people |

I guess I've been lucky in my experience with people in the mental health field, aside from some less-than-understanding police officers. ![]() It's unfortunate that there are people like that who work in this field, but I suppose there will always be some rotten apples in every job field. |
