Hi there. I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice or suggestions on how to deal my with bpd son who is 30. We have had a strained relationship for many years going between love and hate from him to me. Well, the last 8 months were going good, but I'm starting to see his hatred of me again. I've tried to be encouraging because he is recovering from an almost fatal motorcycle accident and is having a hard time. I walk on egg shells, say the right words and try to be positive. But this last weekend he said something so horrible and off the wall to me that i was left feeling stunned. My cure before had been staying away from him for 2 years. But I feel he needs family to help him since his surgeries so I just keep my mouth shut. But he really is hurting my feelings. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Thank You.
Hugs from:

I see you have 130 posts to your credit here. So I don't know if perhaps I've given you links to articles, from PsychCentral's archives, on this topic previously. Just in case I have not, however, here are some:

There's an author called Bon Dobbs who wrote a book called When Hope Is Not Enough, whose website is anythingtostopthepain.com - it has some fantastic advice for those helping a loved one who has BPD. The free ebook available on that website in the left-hand sidebar, called 4X4, is an excellent starting point that should help you communicate better with your son. Best wishes with it all!
