If it's more treatable than the others, why do they estimate up to 70% of people with BPD attempt and 10% complete suicide?
It's like "yeah, we have a good treatment for virus x and not as good a treatment for virus y, and virus y can be deadly, but virus x kills way more percentage of the people that get it vs virus y." Do people with BPD not get treatment as much as other personality disorders, does it just suck that much more, or is the right treatment just inaccessible?

I think bpd is NOT one of those injuries where you get stronger at the broken parts.

I think any chronic trauma-related disorders/consequences are like that.

I never heard that BPD was easily treatable. On the contrary. There's definitely a stigma attached to BPD. I've heard some doctors don't like to treat it.

Quote:
It has a higher remission rate (meaning not meeting DSM criteria for diagnosis) through therapy than any other Axis II disorder, unless you want to count a lot of people "growing out" of AsPD in their 40s (reality is they either smarten up and just camouflage better, get locked up and people don't see the reality, or die). Some therapists will place a limit on how many people dx'd with BPD they see, or just plain won't see someone with that diagnosis because of the stigma and propensity to countertransference.
