Hi,
I'm new. I've struggled with this since a teen but since I passed up my 20's recently, it's surfaced again. Talking about it is hard for me but my goal is to go 1 day w/o purging which I've yet to accomplish. |

In therapy? That would be a start. I went from everyday to 4x a week to finally made it 4 weeks as of tomorrow. I am 46. You can do some of it alone with research on line but for true recovery you will need professional help.

When a child’s emotional needs are not met and a child is repeatedly hurt and abused, this deeply and profoundly affects the child’s development. Wanting those unmet childhood needs in adulthood. Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors. |
