Just wanted to let you know that Anxiety Support Chat is moving to Friday nights at the same time 8PM EST. Thank you for everyone that participated in the poll.

A big thank you to Birds of a Feather for all her help keeping the chat going and helping to train CANDC. CANDC will be the primary host and Birds of a Feather will be the backup host. Wish you lots of success as school starts up for you this fall Birds.

Ever had or thought you might be having a panic attack. Here is an article with the symptoms and how to prevent panic attacks.
How to Halt and Minimize Panic Attacks | Psych Central

We will use this article as a jumping off point for the chat this week on Friday night. Hope to see you there.

I have an anxiety-related question. I don't know that it's big enough to warrant a whole chat, but I'm wondering how many people have problems with "picking up" emotions from other people when you're feeling anxious.

I started going to a therapy group about two months ago. For the first month, I kept feeling like I was leaving the group more anxious than when I got there.

For the last month, I have been more depressed. I don't know if that's the reason, but I have mostly stopped feeling like I'm "catching" other people's anxiety by being near them.

jo thorne, this is a good question. To get more opinions might want to raise that in Anxiety Chat next time.

My own situation often amplifies my own mood. So if I am anxious that can be amplified but I have also gone there with the thought it is a positive experience and come away feeling good.

How anxious are you about presenting in the group?

If somebody is dumping tons of toxic stuff, better to protect yourself with positive thoughts and not absorbing all that. Stay grounded with breathing.

Anxiety Support Chat is now on Fridays at 8PM. Last week we talked about the topic "Is Anxiety Always Bad?" and we had a lively discussion about where Anxiety served a useful purpose in human evolution.

This week the chat will be centered about a blog by Mike Bundrant "21 Characteristics of Smart, Anxious Misfits" http://blogs.psychcentral.com/nlp/20...xious-misfits/
This is a term he has coined for Anxiety suffering people. It finds common characteristics among those suffering from anxiety. Reading down the characteristics, many of them ring true for myself in many ways.

So come on down Friday at 8PM EST EDT and share your ideas about this. Part of the chat is devoted to coping with individual challenges, so pack up your troubles and head down to the Anxiety Support Chat.
