did you always do age appropriate activities as a child?. or were their times where your parents/ other family members treated you like you were younger or older than you were
one of the reasons I think I'm so connected to childhood now, is that because when I was younger, their were actually a lot of things my family did that wern't age appropriate with me - introduce me to southpark at the age of 9 - make me watch corination street (an adult soap opera) before going to bed, nothing like a bedtime story or anything being made to sit and look at flowers being taken to pubs/ bars when I was barely 6 sure I did plenty of age appropriate stuff too (like the toys I played with or the kids shows I watched during the daytime) but those were some of the things that I think ruined my childhood. what about you. do you think your childhood was appropriate for your age |

I also think my whole santa experience was a bit ****ed up
I wasn't openly told well, he doesn't exist, but wasn't really given the chance to explore it either. I suppose because most christmas mornings my stocking was empty, and their was none of this leave a carot and drink for santa stuff either. |

My parents did pretty well, but they messed up a little.
I remember watching Big Trouble in Little China when I was under the age of 5 and feeling scared. I remember being exposed to partying people under the age of 12 and sitting in a car while my mom bought drugs. My dad thought Killer Clowns from Outer Space was age appropriate, but I thought it was scary and had nightmares. I watched some movies beyond my intellectual level as a child, because my parents assumed I was processing faster than other kids, even though I was behind other kids. These kinds of experiences made me who I am today, so I don't really dislike my parents for it. They are human and they made mistakes. They aren't like that now. Now they are old and need my company and sometimes help. __________________ Sobriety date 4/19/14 schizoaffective, PTSD and others. |

They did a lot of things that were not age appropriate for me..
I am only going to list some of them Being made to look at pictures of classical art works instead of bedtime stories (age under 7) Being made to ''excel'' at school or to be sent away... to prison for example No building bricks to play with were given (not even second hand bricks... and these parental units were VERY affluent No Barbie or any similar doll was given (and they never asked me if I would like one) Being made to tear up old magazines instead of age appropriate play - age under 5 __________________ |
