I call a cat a cat.

why - because the other words were used to describe my body in negative, derogatory ways during abuse.

I also know other survivors of childhood and adult abuse too where those other words were frequently used against those who have experienced various forms of abuse.

in fact, my location many survivors of all forms of abuse find offense to those terms because they are slang derogatory euphemisms for certain female body parts. I remember during the hashtag me too protests and marches many were chanting and carrying signs bringing awareness to how certain slang words are used in porn and abuse of girls and women.

its very triggering for some survivors to use or have those terms used today post hash tag me too movement.

parenting classes in my location are now more aware of this situation too and are teaching parents to not use slang words to describe animals and body parts.

I use the term cat or feline, I do not use the slang derogatory terms because I am a survivor who those slang terms were used against me during abuse.
Thanks for this!

I call them my language's version of kitty, which luckily has no sexual connotations (I didn't know kitty was a sex word), Our word just means cat but is cuter. When it comes do dogs, my language nick names them "woofie", but since our dog doesn't bark, I call her a made up name for dog that everyone will understand, but people will look at me crazy for. My friend calls her a B, not to be mean, she just sees it as a factual word for a female dog. LoL.
