So...I've always had sensitive skin, I guess...but I was reading an article online last night that made me wonder if everyone has this, or is this something indicative of something else.
It doesn't hurt to touch my skin in general, or to brush across it......that feels normal. But if you take one or two fingers and you push on my skin, even just a little, it really hurts. And, it hurts worse in different places. It's like that all over my body? I always thought it was just normal and didn't think anything about it until I read this article. It was an article on "allodynia" and fibromyalgia. So, I'm just wondering...does everyone have painful skin/muscles when they are gently poked? Is it normal? Thanks __________________ |

Yeah, I bruise pretty easily too. Sometimes I'll be changing clothes or something and I'll find a bruise and it's like.."where did that come from?"
The more I've been reading about it, the more I think I should be evaluated for Fibromyalgia. I never really knew all the different symptoms that came along with it. Never really understood it and always thought it was just a muscle disorder. But a lot of the symptoms described with Fibro I have as well. Headaches, nausea, extraordinary fatigue, flu-like, muscle twitching...etc. I never really put it all together. It makes sense now....I always wondered why I would go to work and come home feeling like I had been ran over by a train. I always tell myself I'm so lazy because I just don't want to do very much because it always "takes so much out of me". Just convinced myself I was a fat and lazy person. Never saw it as anything else. I've had so many of these symptoms, including the pain, I just thought that it was normal and just didn't say anything. I thought everyone had this type of thing so I just didn't bother saying or worrying to much about it. Now, all these things I've been experiencing make more sense. Still not going to worry about much...nothing's really different now that I know it could be Fibro. Just have to be more aware of what my body needs to help take care of it. I hate the skin pain though. And it's deeper than the skin really. If I get poked, or push down on my skin, or bump myself....it hurts so bad. Like this electrical shooting pain...and once the pressure is removed from my skin it turns into an ache and sticks around for a bit. Anyway...at least now I understand more and when I get med insurance again I can talk to my Dr about it. Sorry you have the pain too!! It's no fun to hurt when your touched... __________________ |
