I have several specialists. Back doc says I need back surgery for spondylolesthesis [one vertebrae slipped up over the over]. Today, neurologist said my neck was probably going the same way. Back surgeon says my spine is too soft to hold the needed screws. Sounds like nursing home city. They have me on sort of an experimental drug for osteoporosis, hoping to harden them up enough to hold screws. I have no one to care for me at home and I have to take care of a cat during that time. Sounds like time to run away and get some of those ECT's my pdoc recommended.
Thanks for this!

Oh, (((billieJ)))! It's going to take more than chicken soup to fix this!! Let me start with a great, big "YOU POOR BABY!" I had three back surgeries to correct a birth defect in my lumbar spine, BUT I was 21 & 22 years old at the time and was in really good shape from track and gymnastics - and it was rough then. Are you doing a lot of walking and weight-bearing exercises in addition to the osteoporosis meds? I'm in the same situation as you now - have a cat and if I have to go into the hospital there's no one to take care of him - and no one to take care of me either! Guess we'll both end up in the nursing home eventually - maybe they'll roll us out to the porch in our wheelchairs once in a while so we can watch the fireflies. Just what you needed - more stress. What can we do for you, billieJ? That's an honest question - what do you need? I can start with lots of hugs, but please don't hesitate to PM or e-mail me if you need to talk.

I hope you are able to find a friend to at least take care of your cat if you have to go to a nursing home to get better after the surgery. Hope things go well!
