Hi everyone.
I wasn't sure where to post this but i just need a bit of a rant about my health. On top of my depression, OCD, anxiety and sleep disorder i also have various ailments which are all getting me down and causing my lots of pain all of the time. How do you not let the pain rule your life and stop you from going out etc? I'm too scared to take strong painkillers as i easily become addicted to things so really don't want to risk it. Here's my current list, lol you would laugh if it wasn't so painful: - TMJD - disorder effecting the hinge joint in my jaw. Causes jaw to stiffen and sometimes lock but also causes muscle strain in the neck, shoulders, back and face as well as daily headaches. - Headaches - down to TMJD and also most probably medication overuse over many years (i've had the headaches every day for 7 years and take anti-inflammortries as paracetemol doesn't help). - Bad Menstrual cramps - suffer with endremetriosis - Stomach cramps and back pain with nausea after eating - due to IBS coupled with something else which i am currently having tests to find out what. - Continuous menstral bleeding (now for a year and a half) despite being on the pill. - Spastic colon - soooo painful to the point i cannot move. ugh i'm just so fed up - it's like if it's not one thing it's something else and now i think my doctor thinks i'm a hypochondriac and doesn't really listen to me. ![]()

You are experiencing how connected our bodies and minds are ... while it can be negative, as in how you are right now, it can also be positive in how you can be with good psychotherapy skills. ![]() I also have TMD, and had bilateral surgery. (The industrial accident caused my lower jaw to be knocked off both hinges.) I have to have my back teeth built up every few weeks so my jaw will "rest" like it's supposed to. Having a key doctor who is up on the latest treatments in this will help you. Also, my TENS is wonderful for TMD pain and spasming. There's no reason to be suffering from menstrual pain. There are a myriad of medications, and even herbs that will alleviate most symptoms to where it's uncomfortable at worst. (I'm thinking black cohosh or blue cohosh depending upon your age, evening primrose oil too. Most grocery store remedies are not strong enough and a waste of money. See the health center's nutritionist or herbalist (usually free advice.) Learning biofeedback, or even working in CBT with mindfulness and stress control will also help you. I'm sorry you're in pain. You don't have to settle for it, and with time and skill you can have a better life, I know it. ![]() Feel better soon. ![]() Quote:

Phipps88fan - yes, i do, which I know is making it all worse but doctors won't perscribe me any other pain medication - they want to try everything else first, which would be fine if it hadn't been so many years!!
Thank you, Sky. I'm sorry about your TMD i know how painful it can be but i'm glad you have a good doctor to help you manage it. I have to go to my dentist as every doctor (even at consultant level) didn't even think to look at my jaw and it was only when it locked that we discovered the problem. But, unfortunately i have a private dentist (i had an NHS dentist who kept saying everything was fine until i saw a few other dentists who all said i was on the verge of losing my teeth) so i've gone to the best guy in town in order to keep my teeth - but now i can't afford to keep having treatment on top of that! The menstrual pain is a tough one, i've tried countless herbel remedies and pain killers. Heat is usually the best thing. But I had an Ectopic Pregnancy 2 and half years ago and the pain has only become unbearable since then - had a laporoscopy, they got rid of some endremetriosis but the pain is still here. Sometimes I just want to cut myself open and have a look myself and see what's going on i get so frustrated lol I also have problems with nasal polyps which obviously makes the headaches worse. I was told I need an operation but they won't operate on me because i'm a smoker. (Even though they said there is no proof it makes any difference, they won't waste money on a smoker, basically). Which is hardly fair - the state my body must be in does it matter? lol

Hi, your headaches are probably rebound headaches which are horrible. Unfortunately the only way to stop them is to disontinue the medication for a good week or more. I hate to tell you that but it's the truth and worth it to break the rebound cycle. The rebound headaches will come back if you start the medication again daily. Please tell your doc about the rebounds and maybe he can come up with an alternative. Good luck and hugs hun!

when you do list things out the list is so pathic that you can laugh. that happened to me also. i'm sorry that you are going thru so much. it gets to be so difficult dealing with so many different ailments. recently i had a sinus infection, no big deal but lots of snot so my doc put me on cough meds, which i had to refill about 4 times. he finally cut me off, because he thinks i was addicted to it. that made me laugh sooooo hard. so there are times that laughing is all that we can do. venting also helps and i'm learning that this is a get place to do it. i hope you are feeling a little better soon, or at least better to deal wih it.
