aw man ... I have no idea exactly why, but my foot went out from under me a shot while ago... and landed me onto the tile floor. At least I fell forward.... my service dog (Caleb) came when I called him and he helped me up (well, you know.)
Now as I sit here, the full impact of the fall is approaching. I have neuropathy in my lower legs, so it's weird not to feel the pain until later, if at all. But I am beginning to feel more pain, in my big toe, up my shin and into my hip and low back. ![]() sigh... ice ... or heat? Take more pain med ... arrrggghhh!!!! A hot tub would be nice, but I can't get down into one, nor soak... ah but I could sit on a chair and soak my foot in hot water (wonder if I have any epsom salt left.) Ok... thanks for letting me share. No one else gives a hoot. ![]()

Sorry to hear about your fall (JD). How are you feeling now after 24hours has passed? I certainly can sympathize with what you may be going through, after having my fall 3 weeks ago. Aches and pains do show up after the fact and sometimes not for a couple of days. And sometimes the immediate pain can cover the smaller aches and pains as well.
I do hope you are feeling better and didn't do any damage to your toe or foot or shin. Take care! ![]() |

Ouch! Sorry for the late getting to sleep. Glad you have Caleb to help. Now, if he could just make you a nice, relaxing brunch

Thanks! It turns out my big toe and joints and along that side of that foot are quite affected from my fall. I doubt anything broke, but I have some real "bone aching" if you know what I mean. Of course, I have tripping issues without any additional pains, so I'm at a greater risk now. That fact makes me want to sit in one place, which is not good for my sacrum etc. Sigh. Guess I'm preparing to become an octogenarian in the future...but not yet.
Brunch sounds good. I so want to go out and eat but -sigh- I haven't done that in over a week. (This is from someone who's meals came from a daily trip to a restaurant where 1/2 meal was eaten and other 1/2 taken home for a second meal.) I'm mainly eating fruit and veggies. And since I can't taste, food has become quite boring for me. Tired of eating alone. At least eating out I had social contact with the wait staff. lol Ok...sorry just realized I ranted. ![]()

Oh, poor aching joints! My aunt is 88 and having all sorts of troubles with an infection in her foot and was back and forth in the hospital and her back is fused so she can't do anything with her feet (can't bend at all) and before that was falling because of a bad med and that had her in the hospital; a neurologist caught the med and made her discontinue taking that (an antidepressant for her heart problem that was awhile ago and was resolved but no one stopped the antidepressant and they can cause older people to black out and fall if taken too long). I'm not anxious to get that old, am having enough trouble now when I'm "young".

During what turned out to be the last years of mom's life she would say to me, what are you going to do when you get my age? (In response to my ailments and disability.) She died last year at age 89. I began telling her I never plan to get "that" old. Of course, I have since realized that knowing the mind-body connection as it is, that is the last thing I need to be telling myself! lol
I'm having more issues with the arch and topside of the foot I landed poorly with as I fell... oh well. The fall made me take Caleb out while in the motorized wheelchair. He has lost his knack to heel and work beside it ... not good. But at least it reminded me of needing to do that, keep his training fresh because I never know how he will be needed. The pavement was too hot for his feet, and I ended up letting him walk in the grass. I need to dig out his footies I sewed with leather soles and see if he remembers how to walk in them. Not like I have anything else to do. ![]()
