I have bad hip pain and it is unknown at this time what is causing it (I still have to get the xray, doing that tomorrow). I love to run but running makes the pain worse. I don't feel any pain while I am running but afterwards when the leg is at rest it hurts pretty bad. But, it hurts whether I run or not so what can it hurt right?

I just don't know what to do.....should I stop running? It would really crush me if I had to stop running. It helps to clear my mind and energize me for the day. And I feel better about myself when I run.

Hi Skully - If the x-ray doesn't show much, you'd better ask for a bone-density test. My hip hurts like heck and my doc ordered the bone-density test, and lo and behold, my hip is ready to break at any time - it won't even take a fall or injury to break it. I could be just sitting here and it might break. I'm not saying that yours could be that bad, but you might have a problem with osteoarthritis or osteoporosis. It's worth the test.

I hope you get some answers soon. In the meantime, I think I'd scale back the running some - you just don't know what you might be doing to the hip. God bless and let us know what you find out, ok? Hugs, Lee

Thanks for replying!
I have stopped running since I posted. And the hip is feeling better. I would hate to think it is arthritis or osteoprosis since I am only 34 but I guess it is possible at any age. I was thinking the other day about when I used to run really heavy about 8 years ago and it hit me....I had hip pain back then too but it wasn't as bad as it is now. So it very well could be osteoarthritis
I have had a lifetime of playing sports. I started playing soccer when I was 4 and I played all kinds of sports from that time all the way through high school and college. I still play on softball teams and stuff. It just seems every time I increase my physical activity my hip pain increases as well. I am going for my xray on Tuesday and I will let you know if it shows anything
