These "i wishes" are on my mind tonite, please add yours if you wish
i'm thinking about keeping this thread going, it will help me get it out and feel better, and knowing others are out there that share the same thoughts help more than you would know

  • i wish there was a magic wand *poof* your now out of pain
  • i wish people would realize "hey you really are in pain" maybe i should be a little bit more ACCOMIDATING
  • i wish doctors would at least say "hey i have no idea, i should refer you" instead of giving you false hope with their suggestions and throwing pills that don't even work your way
  • i wish we didn't have to cry on a daily basis after realizing "we can't do that" and acknowledging our limitations
  • i wish i didn't have to be so different from the others around me as they are starring at me
  • i wish people weren't so awkward around me
  • i wish my partner would step in every once in awhile instead of watching me struggling
  • i wish my family would acknowledge theres just things i cannot do, i'm not trying to be difficult
Thanks for this!

Wow Racee ~ You really hit the nail on the head. Living with chronic pain can be so frustrating. The pain is awful, yes ~ but it's also the way people treat us that's awful too. I've found that many people just plain don't BELIEVE me ~ they "question" whether or not I'm really "disabled." I guess since they can't see blood or an open wound, I couldn't possibly be disabled. Just to LOOK at me, no I don't LOOK disabled. But I walk with a pronounced limp ~ and can't keep up with everyone else - so that should be a clue.

I know others struggle with this as well. Family members think they're addicts because they're taking narcotic pain medications; husbands or wives think their disabled spouse should be contributing more in the household and that puts stress in the marriage; if the disabled one happens to say "ouch" or anything close to that, the spouse gets irritated because the disabled one complains too much. ; the list just goes on and on.

I wouldn't wish this on anyone ~ not even on the co-worker who conspired to get me fired. (I sued and won) LOL But these are things that chronic pain patients deal with every day.

I wish you ALL a relatively pain-free day ! God bless and prayers are with you all. Hugs, Lee

I wish too that ppl would be more empathethic or at least more open-minded.

My roommate is sick of hearing about my toothaches I try to keep it to myself but I am miserable.

I wish the same things as leed.

I wish doctors would not use our pain to take advantage of us! (lately my docs have seemed to enjoy watching me writhe in my discomfort (emotional and physical).

I too wish that ppl would be more open minded and compassionate towards disabled ppl. I have a hidden disability too. One time a bus drive did not let me ride the bus on my disabled pass because I was not in a wheelchair! I have other stories, too. Pharmacists give me dirty looks, bank tellers do too, when they see my Medicare card or my SSA checks!

I hate it!

thank you for starting this thread.

No, we are not being difficult!

I believe you and anyone else on here in pain!

We are not making it up.

I know.
