For the past few years, I've had a chronic pain condition that requires rescue injections for breakthrough pain. One of the medications in the injection causes severe tissue irritation, even when injected deep IM properly. There is little normal muscle tissue left in my quadriceps in either leg anymore as a result. Its mostly hard, fibrous scarring.
Although there is always pain for a couple days after the injections, for the past few months, the after pain is tremendous. It usually starts a couple days after the actual injection. As I write this, I'm sitting in bed on the edge of writhing its so bad. It feels as though the bone and muscle tissue from my hip to just below my knew is being chewed on. I've tried all the NSAIDs, and also mixing tylenol with an NSAID without any relief. Because I'm already on major pain killers daily for the primary disorder, (chronic, intractable migraines), there is no where to go as far as easing the pain. Massage, heat, cold, etc are having no effect. The leg is also visibly swollen. There is no reason to call my Dr., because this is an on going problem and he knows about it. (The guy is one of those rare gems that you wish all Dr.s were). The fibrous tissue has also made it impossible for me to bend either leg at the knee despite several sessions of working on bending them daily. Does anyone else have to inject promethazine (phenergan) for migraines regularly? If so, i'm open to any ideas on how to deal with this pain. It will wind up lasting for three to four days, and often before that time is up, I will have had another breakthrough migraine that forces me to resort to the injections again. Just to save time, we have been through all the drugs, homeopathic remedies, etc. etc. etc. plus all the diagnostics as far as dealing with the migraines, and the regiment I"m on now is the only one that even comes close to helping. I'm just trying to get through the bone and soft tissue pain at the moment. Thanks in advance, Sam2 |
