OK - here it goes.... the first POST for our new Chronic Pain Support Thread.

I am literally going on just 4 hours of sleep with in the last 2 days due to body PAIN from my RA & FRIBO.... and I feel as though I could loose it at any moment.... every inch of my body hurts or is swollen and I am presently having to walk bent over, my back hurts to much to stand up straight.

If I am not any better tomorrow - I am going to call my RA doctor and go in to see him - to see if he can give me a shot of cortisone that might help ease my PAIN and to get some test ran.... for they are presently trying to Dx a few problems I have been having lately.

Please say a PRAYER or two for ME when ever I cross your mind today.... Thx.

LoVe,
Rhapsody -

P.S.
Its a bummer, for IF it is not the emotional pain I am ssuffering from then it is the physical.

In the late 1990s I was dx'ed with Fibromyalgia and Degenerative bone & disc disease. I've tried every pain killer there is, until my Dr. suggested Methadone. It has been the one thing that has kept me sane..and has given me back some quality of life. I am now walking without a cane. I was also dx'ed bipolar and schizophrenic by my Psychiatrist. After shifting around on my psych meds..my Doc added Cymbalta. Seems it works well for folks suffering from chronic pain.

Please consider giving Methadone a try. More and more pain drs are considering this drug that has been around for quite awhile. It is also very inexpensive -for those that don't have RX drug coverage.

Take care! dottie

Thanks for the Advice Dottie.....
I will ask my doctor about it when I see him on Thursday or Friday..... for last night during the worse part of my pain I personally took 2 Darvocet N-100 (with no relief) and then 30 minutes later I took 3 Advil.... the combo gave me a small amount of relief.

I am living on pain killers today, but I can only take 1 pill at a time, for today I have my 10 month old niece and 2 yr old nephew.

OK - I think I will be able to get some sleep tonight, for I called my mom and she gave me some of her muscle relaxers and a few sleeping pills...... I hope to dream of flowers flowing in an open sunny meadow tonight.

Wish ME luck............... and Sweet Dreams.

I have been living with fibro for about 6 years now. not ever taken anything for pain.. doctors won't give me anything.. they give me something for anxiety and depression... and I suffer...

I am going to be seeing a pain management doctor soon though and I am hopeful it will help.I keep hoping intense therapy to overcome my past asbue will help me to heal from the inside out.. if that makse any sense...but the pain is always so unbearable that I can't allow myself to disclose too much in therapy because I can't handle the fibro flare it causes.

I keep on having faith... hope..

I hear YOU - for people with RA or FIBRO (I have both) will usually have a flare up if and when they become stressed or highly upset..... its the way of the body and we cannot do any thing about it - except to stay away from those that we know can and usually do upset us.... but one cannot run from every day going on's that often cause us stress.... Big Sigh!!

I too am going to be looking into my RhDoc finding me a massage therapist, a comfort bed and some pain management (and) if done correctly my medical insurance should foot most of the bill.

Take-Care and Hoping for a PAIN FREE DAY for us both.

LoVe,

hey.. I was reading the other day about pain meds and I guess you probably already know this but I read how one med will lose it effectiveness and they have to switch you to a different kind...

I don't have RA thank God.. but I do have degenerative disc disease and 2 herniated discs.. one bulging... and mild scoliosis... and I also have ( of course) chronic fatigue.. and hypothyroidism... as well as all the other junk that fibro brings.. ibs.. tmj.. blah..blah ..blah..and severe cmp

I am leaning towards acupressure.. trigger point massage.. heated pool... I would really like to try kinesiology too... and avoid narcotics as much as possible.

Hoping you have a good nights sleep... and may we all one day be healed...

Yeah - that I know for sure........ but it has not been that long since I have needed to start taking something strong than 4-Advil's at one time..... so I am still trying to find the right PAIN medicine to control the awful flares I am having with my RA.... the doc is on the case too - lol.

Every body wish me and the doctors some LUCK, for I am going for a MRI this Thursday to try and find the point of origin for the head pain & facial numbness that I have been suffering from for the last 4-5 months.
They performed a Cat Scan back in August but it did not show any thing, not even a sinus infection which they thought I had.
I cannot sleep well for my head pain becomes worse when I lay my head down on the pillow and I cannot turn my neck to easily with out pain all over my entire head and down my back...... OUCH!!
.... the doctors are looking for brain lesions or internal tears.

maybe "just" bone spurs? One can hope for you that it isn't serious (though I know the pain is serious) PAIN from RA & FIBRO

YES..... a plain old bone spur would be great news, but I am not trying to think about the WHAT until I have the MRI done and see the doctor for my results.... Please keep ME in your PRAYERS.

Hope the pain subsides,so you can get a full night's sleep.
My mom suffers from chronic leg pain from her peripheal vascular disease and neuropathy from her diabetes,I feel for anyone with this.
I just started getting hand, elbow and feet pain, sometimes hurts enough it will wake me up,something related to my Hashimotos, but will confirm or get a clue.
Rhapsody,I'm sending you big wishes for relief, healing and better quality rest.
Take care,
DE

Thank YOU..................... for I really need it today, for the PAIN has returned and I think it is mad at me for seeing the Neuro Doctor to try to rid my body it IT - lol lol lol.

I am really sick and tired of this mysterious pain for it is driving me nuts and it is ruining what quality of life I do have in between my RA..... I just want to cry for on a level of 1 to 10 - I would say that my pain is a 8 and it hurts.

AND - what makes me even more upset is that my GP could not find any thing wrong, and the Neuro doc could not find any thing wrong..... and yet I am still in pain and it is destroying my daily living.

I just want someone to say I found the problem and to help me deal with the pain and why it is happening..... today my head feels as though someone has my it in a vice grip and they are squeezing with all their might, my jaw and front teeth hurt - as does the my back.... right down my spine (from top to bottom).
