It seems whatever I do, my back is always in pain and it's getting worse. My hips really bother me too. I see a neuro and he has me on tramadol, gabapentin, mobic, and zanaflex. I go to a chiropractor every week. I've also been going to get massages every 2 weeks. I feel good for a couple days after I get a massage and see the chiro on the same day. I can't do that every 2-3 days though. What I really need is surgery, but no one wants to operate on me. I had back surgery when I was 15 for a herniated disc. Now I have 2 herniated discs in my back. I've even done shots. Nothing works. I'm getting so tired of it all. And, no, I can't get narcotics b/c I was addicted before. When the pain gets really bad and I can't walk, I go to the hospital, but they haven't done anything for me the past couple times, so I guess I'm not doing that anymore. Sometimes they just give me hydrocodone, and that does nothing. Last time they just sent me home with a prescription of steroids. The pain really doesn't help my mental state.

I'm sorry you are hurting so bad. My husband has back pain like that and all they give him is tramdol, which doesn't really help. I don't know that anything I say can really help your pain, but just wanted to let you know someone was thinging about you.

Moreta,
So sorry you are in pain....sure do understand all you said...Just got my 2nd shot in the sciatic and another brace...on my way to fusion for the left side hip area, then they will start playing with the lumbars 1 through 5 and then the scoliosis.....Gabapentin, tramadol, perc, oxy...hate them....lazychair and shiaastu massage non med way---but not the answer....the feeling never goes away...I just try to ignore it....and that's nearly impossible.....know I will be traveling down the road for the spine for a while....and now the neuro and the spine docs want to get together...I am trying to get a multi-doc appt with primary, neuro, spine, endocrine, thorasic, gastro and gyn....new idea and I am all for it.....I want to see what they think together.....what a novel approach....put all my docs together!!!!!....appointment is like 90 minutes.....I am terrified but hopeful...hopeful that it works...and terrified that I have the strength to show up that day-not lose it and cancel.... is so scary because when they listed all my meds....it filled an entire page!!!!! I am overwhelmed at all this stuff and hope it will work in some way, shape or form.....dunno...is this possible???? any thoughts or comments ??? has anyone else heard of this type of patient appointment???

Sounds awful. Even a little back pain is quite debilitating I find.

Have you considered or tried accupuncture? Of course it doesn't solve the problem but it can give you some relief. It's painless and what do you have to loose in trying it?
