My doctor prescribes me Percocet to help manage my chronic pain. I've noticed a substantial jump/increase in my appetite. I'm underweight so I guess it isn't a bad thing...I just feel like I have the munchies all day! That is not the norm for me.
Does anyone else take opiates and find their appetite increased as a result? I also recently discontinue Zoloft and switched to Lexapro. Lastly, I am prescribed Adderall and I am on a drug holiday to reduce my tolerance. I'm ok with my increased food intake being a temporary thing...it is just odd because I'm not much of a "food" person. Ah well, any input is appreciated. |

I was on opiates and narcotics for chronic pain before my surgery and lost a lot of weight...not sure if it was the drugs or the pain. After the surgery I didn't need the drugs anymore and I gained weight....but I also didn't have pain any more so I can't say which it was.

Any time I've been prescribed any, it's really hard to eat. It makes me sick.

Is it possible that the Percocet and other med changes are making you sleepy? I always eat more when I'm feeling sedated. Trying to get fuel to stay awake. Unfortunately, I usually eat sugary stuff when I'm really tired.

Thanks for your input, everyone.
Percocet does make me sleepy - perhaps that is what is going on. Thanks. |

Opiates have the opposite effect on me. I lose my appetite.

I have PMS right now and I think that may be the culprit. Thanks again for your responses.
