What to do? Lots of pain. Can't use NSAID's or Amytriptyline.

GP says to do Yoga, exercise, get massage & acupuncture. She says it's all neuropathic pain & give it a month & it will all be gone.

She will not let me use Tylenol #3. She says it's addictive. I know that, but it's not addictive for everyone. I've been using it for about 3 years and have never needed more.

I don't know what to do. She smiles & laughs and says Yoga will fix it all.

Have you considered a different doctor? If your doctor is unwilling to manage your pain level, that in its own seems kind of unethical to me. If yuo don't have a history of substance abuse or drug seeking, there is no reason she should be blowing off your pain levels. I would seek a second opinion.

Yes, I would try a different doctor, too. Each has their own philosophy. Find one that matches yours.

Just a question, you said you've been using tylenol 3 for 3 years. So did the doctor just stop prescribing it to you? If so there should be a good reason to stop especially if you weren't over using them.
It isn't possible for me to get another doc, I'm in Canada too. But amitriptyline or nsaids is what I'm offered too.
I can picture her smiling and laughing, I hate that, my doc has often blown off my problems in a similar way.

I have to agree with the recommendations already given. You need to find another doctor. There is a term for doctors who believe that chronic pain will go away by practicing yoga, meditation, exercise or voodoo - it's "QUACK."

Oh, dear . . . I'm glad you can relate, but I'm sorry you have to deal with this. I'll have to try to explain my feelings & my pain better to her.
