I posted the other day that I went to the orthopedist with the xray of my hip because it's been giving me such trouble. He basically brushed me off.

I told him that if I walk 150 feet or so that my right leg doesn't work right. I start to get a really bad pain on the front of my thigh and then I start dragging my foot and tripping on it.

Tonight I went to Walmart and walked to the back of the store. By the time I got to the register it started. When I got outside I wasn't sure I would make it to my car and I was in the first handicap spot! It was like I had to stop everytime it was time to bring my right foot forward - and then I would have to concentrate to life my foot and step forward,

My leg, foot, etc. does not tingle and does not feel numb. But when I walk I get that terrible pain and then have trouble lifting my foot.

The orthopod first says it could be siactica and then says that it's part of the fibromyalgia which doesn't make sense, Anyone else have this happen?

Thanks Inny - looks like we had the same doctor Anyone have this? My fibromyalgia use to be worse right in the center of my butt like two hot pokers being pushed in them but it didn't radiate anywhere.

Now the butt is not as bad and it starts in my hip as well and goes down the front and side of my leg. Does not affect my lower leg. I just thought sciatica went down the back of you leg that's why I was confused when the doc said it.

Thanks again for responding

PAD is Peripheral Artery Disease. I know this because my aunt has it. PAD is a condition in which plaque forms on the walls of your arteries, restricting blood flow. Sometimes, the plaque hardens and breaks off of the walls of the arteries, causing a blood clot to form and further restricting blood flow, or cutting it off altogether.

Your symptoms also sound like mine. When I walk, it feels as though my hip is dislocating from it's socket, causing the pain to shoot all the way down my leg. Mine is caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis, according to my Rheumatologist and my family doctor. Hope this helps.

PAD effects the legs. Mountain girl is right about the plaque but it is only in the legs and causes pain when walking usually down the front of the legs. I have this and so does my aunt. it is pretty common and they can strip the veins in the legs.

Thanks Mountain girl - I did just go through rigirous testing for rheumatoid, lymes, lupus, metal toxicity, and a bunch of other stuff - all negative!

Today I am going for an EMG - they are going to put needles in the muscles of my leg and shoot currents into it - fun times Anyone have this?

Doc wants to make sure there is nothing neurological going on.

We'll see.......
