Thank you for lending an ear, @lizardlady.

I don't think sedatives help with triggers, trauma and dissociation.

No matter how bad the hip has gotten, nor the chronic pain associated therewith, my mental health is what matters most to me.

As far as the surgeon goes, the referral is in but I haven't heard from them, so no appointment scheduled yet.

All I can do is continue to express my concerns to my psychologist and PCP and hope they understand.

If Social Security wants to deny me disability because I won't have surgery then I'm not sure what I'll do.

I do need to find a way to stop all this worrying though, that's for sure!
