I will say I have a terminal illness, and it causes a great deal of pain. I am not defenseless against it. My primary Oncoloigst's outfit has pain specialists I see or can talk to by phone. They have given me two pain medications to combat this. One is a 30/650 Percocet to be taken when it is not overpowering to me. The other is now a 200 mg Morphine Sulfate extended-release to take when it gets excruciating. I avoid both as much as possible as I like to spend my day writing, and they make me sleepy. I find myself constantly waking up in my medical/recliner. When you spend some time in this state, and yes, I am resilient, but it starts to take a toll. It is a particular kind of toll bridge I am slowly finding more difficult to pay passage on. They are urging me to transition to a 0.75 Mcg Fentanyl patch. They work for 72 hours and are much more potent. Just afraid if I do I will sleep all the time. I want all the time I can have. I am not ready for that yet, but I am reaching my limits.

I was on lots of pain meds before my surgery and that included a bigger fentanyl patch. I was not sleepy at all on it. I had trouble sleeping because of the pain. You can try it and if it doesn’t work out stop it and just continue with the two you have now. There’s nothing to lose by trying it.

I’m sorry you have to deal with this.
