What do you take to help with the pain?

I'm currently on venlafaxine for the depression n stuff, but I've heard that can help too. But I'm still in quite a bit of pain some days. I've tried stuff for IBS, none of which really helped. So I'm looking to go on a painkiller, I take paracetamol and codiene sometimes, which helps a bit. I will see my GP about it. I just wanted to see what other people took.

Anna, I'm not sure my answer will be much help. I don't take anything for the pain. Because of stomach problems I can't take any over the counter pain meds (aspirin, NSAIDs of Tylenol). My primary care wrote me a 'scriptfor codeine. I can't function on any of the prescription painkillers. So I use pain managemnt stuff and ride out the pain. Like I said, not much help, huh?

There is a med on the market specifially for fibro pain called Lyrica. I tried it earlier this year. I can't tell you if it helped with the pain because I was toned out of my gourd the whole time I took it. I stopped it after a couple for days because I didn't like the being stoned feeling. I've heard others say it worked for them. You might talk to your doctor about it.

I've also heard that one of the antidepressants (Cymbalta, I think) helps with fibro pain. I've never taken it so have no personal info about it.
