I know you mean well, but every time I hear a "thanks for your service" I want to escape. And when you say it with empathy in your eyes, it is almost overwhelming.

So here I am on veterans day, naked with tears running down my neck as I type this. You understand the tears, but the nakedness comes from my efforts to escape all that is holding onto me. It's like every piece of clothes is holding me back, all the possessions are holding me back, all the memories bring tears.

I have to admit there is some recent trauma to go with all of that in the past, but altogether, it makes me pretty desperate.

Please don't reply. I just needed to tell someone.
