Greetings vets,
I don't know if this is widely known, but I noticed in this video Dr. Hyman mentions (20:00 into the talk) that because of the military diet, vets often have very low levels of Omega 3 fats, and this can cause a number of problems including depression and it can make you vulnerable to PTSD. Here is a DOD study showing that just adding Omega 3 reduced depression symptoms by 50% and reduced suicidal ideation by 45% http://www.defense.gov/News/NewsArticle.aspx?ID=118350 - vital Last edited by vital; Nov 24, 2014 at 12:28 PM. |
