Do mouses/mice wear out? Mine has virtually quit working. It takes all the patience that I can muster to get the cursor where I want it. HELP ME, PLEASE!!! PAT

How old is your mouse/mice, sure they wear out.

Is it a rollerball one? If it is, take out the rollerball and clean all the rollers with rubbing alcohol and q-tip. If that doesn't work, you're right, your mouse may be worn out.

If you get a new one, let me reccommend an optical mouse. No rollerball cleaning. this can't help but bring laughter....my mouse won't act right!!

Yah I agree with 1 day if it's a roller ball there are these slits in the bottom there should be 4 indents two inside of the circle and two outside, line them up till there are only two and that opens the bottom. It's basically the size of one of those super bouncy balls you'd get from those machines. Make sure to blow inside the compartment it can collect a TON of dust and gunk and clean the ball as 1 day said. And I did think you were talking about a REAL mouse! If all else fails I say slam it on your desk a couple times that usually works wonders for me! Good luck! (sorry, I'm a computer geek)

so.........this morning i dissected my mouse and cleaned it up and dusted it and gave it two good bangs on the table and put it back together...it's working much better but i'm thinking that it's probably on it's last legs. it is a fully mature mouse. born in 2002....of the grey species.....doesn't eat much...

Whoa Ms. High Tech! You'll LOVE the optical due to the pet hair factor alone. I learned this first hand when I finally trashed the ol' rollerball and went optical.

I'm happy you have the computer up and running at home with a working two toned mouse. Mine is silver and blue very stylish compared to the basic grey of a few years back.

Grooooooooooooooooovy indeed! keep the kitties from cord chewing the new mouse!

and yes Spazz's comments on clean it out and then whack it....I'm a computer geek? Hysterical and accurate!! *lol*

Even an optical mouse can get full of cat fur, mine does. It (the mouse) is of the navy & silver variety, breeder hp.

turns over blue/grey logitech bred mouse to see loads of dog hair sticking out of optical port.

Unplugged mouse (safety when working with a directed light) and pulled out hair with pocketknife tweezers.

Before this thread I would have never known that the logitech breed needed more care than I was giving it! Who knew?! *LOL*

I think mousie is now three years old or so. ( I don't think any of this makes me a geek but rather a weirdo! this can't help but bring laughter....my mouse won't act right!! )

I love my 2004 logitech optical mouse. it let's me point and click my day away, and it doesn't get kittie or puppy dog fur in it.......

I think I just found something else to covet (besides my current lapse of sanity)......

this can't help but bring laughter....my mouse won't act right!!

OK. there might be another solution eh? If you have recently changed or added a program ... well anyway, you might try going into your SETTINGS and reducing your expectations of your mouse activity. Lower the speed or whatever. Sometimes incapatibility of programs etc can cause the poor thing to become confused... heheheh
