I have just installed the pod cgi script successfully on my server, however the web URL http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/pod.cgi does not exist and the pod.cgi script is trying to access this page as the first page when loading.

Can anybody tell me how to edit the script to stop this problem.

Thanks

I fixed the problem by changing $pod_usequery back to 1 in podvars.pm.

I dont know if the problem was caused with running the site on a IIS ver 5.0 server?

I just changed from Unix to Windows 2000 IIS ver 5.0. My other scrips are still working (tweaked paths) but I can't get pod back on line. It brings up the same error:

POD encountered the following error while trying to run:
404 Not Found
Attempted retrieval URL: http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/ave.pl

I'm still waiting for the dns changes to propogate but the scripts down. I tried your suggestion but its not happening.

The path to the cgi bin is fine as the script is locating the header and footers??

Pods back on line with your suggestion but the question marks a pain as all my hard urls are formatted without the question mark.

Any suggestions for dumping the question mark?

I originally choose use query 0 because I heard some search engines don't like indexing the question marks?? in url's.

Hi mkiwi,

I cannot find a way to resolve the sub directory problem on a Win2k server.

I have also come across other bugs such as the http://dmoz.org/img/odphead.gif appearing on the
cgi?dir=/Kids_and_Teens/ page

& the http://dmoz.org/img/home_attribute.gif
appearing on the
cgi?dir=/Kids_and_Teens/Sports_and_Hobbies/ page.
that are supposedly removed with the setup variables in the .pm file.

I will try & contact Dr John to see what he has to say.

On the whole, I think that the POD perl script is a pretty good effort for a part time "free project".

Kind Regards,
Mark

This has been fixed in the latest patch release, v 1.87d.

Thanks!

I actually tried what you suggested, but then the pages would not span beyond the first 21 results. So My link to the advanced search still does not work. Any suggesions?
