I had wanted to change my picture but the photo of myself is not fitting the size of the site?
I tried to reduce the size, change the pixels....
nothing seems to be working.
can you give me a hand?
am I allowed to post a photo of myself?

sometimes it take a little while to apply. try shutting down and coming back. also, try to clean out your cache.

thanks for responding.
Dr. John said we couldn't have avatars without permission.
so I tried to get my own photo into the system.
but everytime I downloaded it and submitted, it said is was either too big or just didn't fit the standards of the site.
So I trimmed it way down and it still didn't work.
where do you get your images?

We can't have avatars without permission? O_O;;;

Err... o_O;;;

Yea, anyway. When I was switching ava's, I forgot to delete it before I uploaded another. Go to your profile and delete it. Confirm to delete then go back and upload after you've deleted.

Also, the ava you have now is bitmap, I thought we were only supposed to upload png. jpg. or gif.

Try opening the ava you got in MS Paint, push save as, and save it again but use a different type, it's the bottom of the two option thingys at the bottom. I'd use .png, it makes it so the image isn't distorted after saving. MS Paint does that. When the image isn't seen from the board it's 71 x 99, try to get it down to 65 x 90?

See if that works, if not, ask the question again? I don't quite understand what you're asking. X< Sorry!

I believe he meant permission from the owner of a copyrighted image. Soo for example if you've had a picture taken by a professional, those ARE copy wrighted, and it is illegal to scan them into your computer and use those as an avatar if you don't have permission from the photographer. Usually your best bet is to use photographs you've taken yourself.

thank you for asking. I have tried everything I can think of to post my own photo. I had the photo in Photoshop (I have a Mac) then reduced it to the size of 60x80 to fit what I understand of the directions...but it never works.
I changed the image to reduce the pixels...made it even smaller. I can barely see it and still its: either too big or too dense? I got the help of someone else but we couldn't figure it out either.
lot's a hairpulling later...
I seemed to be able to download the picture of Ganesha so easily.
I am stumpted.
does anyone have a Mac? and would that have any effect on the situation?
Ganesha

Ehh... O_O; I have no clue... I have windows though, so I have no clue if having an Mac would change anything.

O_O; Maybe try to ask DocJohn, he might know more.

I'm sorry I can't help you! T_T This is so stumping...

what I know about using computers, I really know but what I don't...well
I try to bluff my way through. Computers have no trek with bluffing.
either it's right or not.
so I blundered my way into this project but it took my honey's help to finish it.
He put the image into photo elements and the rest was easy. The sidebar actually asked what size image.
I knew it was something simple but I didn't have the program to do it.
thanks for your help and caring.
Ganesha
