Yesterday (11/19/20) was a bad day, as they all have become- wondered around the site trying to figure out where to post. Finally picked one and started typing. It took a while to articulate my thoughts without sounding like a maniac and by the time I pushed preview it said I wasn't logged in. Played chase the page with the post/previous page/refresh/log in. Then it wouldn't post because I had logged in since logging in...All I did was follow directions and got nowhere. A little knowledge would be appreciated.

Sometimes if it takes very long to write out a post the system logs you out, I am sorry that you lost your post. Some people find it helpful to type out a post that will take a while to write on their computer using a program like word processor or other similar programs then they copy and paste it to the site when they are finished.

Good advice from Gimmeice - you could also try clicking on the box 'remember me' where you log in and this will keep you logged in longer.

I always get logged out unless I check the "remember me" box. So now I do it as a matter of course.

Me too -- and I almost never get logged out when I do check it, or else I get logged seamlessly back in when necessary.

One exception seems to be that right after I run a certain spyware-detecting program I'll occasionally (twice in 6 months?) find I have to log back in. I'm guessing it nibbles on my login cookies or something.
