I clicked the "Thanks" button on this post and got this message in response:
Quote:
Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in [path]/post_thanks.php on line 57
A few observations:
  • There are two previous "thanks" shown for this post.
  • The thread is now closed.
  • The original poster is no longer a member (was this what triggered the message?)
  • My thanks doesn't appear on later viewings, so apparently didn't get recorded.
I can see how, if the member who posted the message has left, the system might not be able to update their "thanked posts" statistics. Couldn't that part simply be skipped, though, and the "thanks" recorded only for that post, separately from the poster's stats?
Thanks for this!

That explanation makes sense to me.

I would think if a thread is now closed it would mean you could not post a thank you either. that would add to a locked thread

I also received this message in a closed forum as well. I was able to add my thanks to other peoples posts in the thread...but not on the post(s) of the person that has since had their account discontinued.

The thanks option is to thank the poster for what they posted. If the poster is no longer a member, then there is no one for the program to thank.

I would think it's kind of a mute point to thank someone who is no longer a member.

True enough....but I like to add my thanks in support of the OP and/or to support the cause. And if folks decide to check in as guests after they delete their accounts, I like them to know that I support them as well.

Au contraire -- I've occasionally contrived to thank someone who's never been a member and who's been dead for 800 years. Here's an example.
Thanks for this!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
