I've replied to several posts EARLY this morning, say 7-8 am and they are still not showing.

Can anyone tell me why?

And when I try to go to the chat room all that comes up is the forum list?

What am I doing wrong? I've cleared cookies, logged out/in, restarted my browser several times. It's now after 5 and I'm still having issues here.

It's a little diheartning when your trying to respond to a post and noone sees it even 8 hours later

I so want to chat to a "live" person. I'm a little overwhelmed being alone today and if I can't post or chat, it just makes the lonelyness worse.

Any ideas?

I got an explanation of the posts thru PM.....Whew!! I was begining to give up.

I'm assumming it's going to take a bit before I can join chat, now that I know it takes a bit for the moderators to check the first few post?

Thanks Babysteps!!

Hi IrishMe, Welcome to PC.

(Also welcome to kacey321 too!)

All new members undergo a moderation period, up to their 6th post, where they need to be approved by a moderator or administrator before they will appear on the forums. Unfortunately that means that if you've posted 6+ posts, but they're all in moderation, it still means you're a 0 posts overall.

After 6 posts (or whenever the forum software catches up which can take a few hours to a day) your posts will automatically appear on the forums and you won't be under moderation.

Unfortunately this is a necessary measure because some members or spambots come here and post things which aren't appropriate and it's easier to deal with when the problem is contained. I apologize for the inconvenience!

To access the chat room, you must also have at least 6 posts on the forums before you're able to enter chat and talk "real time" with other members - once again this is a security measure to protect members.

All this is also to say that we moderators and administrators are all volunteers and keep different hours on the forums, and we aren't always online to automatically approve posts. Generally speaking though, posts are approved within 24 hours. I hope this answers some of your questions, if you have any more please feel free to PM myself or another member of the Community Team.

Hi Irish - I had the same thing happen when I first joined - it is a little frustrating to find that you can't post or chat right away but I have found (with other sites) that it probably a good thing - you have to want to be here - and take the time to jump thru the hoops
Well worth the time and energy
Take care.

What if someone is writing something very offensive? There are a lot of people here that could be harmed. Now think that administrator is a human being and needs time to read all and possible to reflect upon them. :-)

Thanks everyone!! I understand and appreciate things better now that I know and have the knowledge.

I've figured out a lot of things and have gotten into chat! Thanks again to the moderators and admin for their hard work in keeping things safe for all!

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
