Inky, how long has it been since you cleaned up your old files? Cleared caches, etc... compressed disk.. it may be crunching and munching trying to find space! Just a thought.

I've done complete maintenance on it twice the past month, so that's not it. Thanks for trying! The sound did eventually go away, but its kind of scary hearing it not knowing what's going on with it. It's not a "normal" sound.
