Very frequently when I post to a thread I get a message saying I'm not logged in by the time I hit the post button. Is this being caused by an "inactivity" timer? If so, I'm wondering if others are having an issue with this as well and if so, perhaps the timeout period could be extended a little?
Thanks, /tones |

I get that message sometimes. I think literal action is necessary to be kept logged in. Just reading or even typing does not do it, one has to literally hit a post button or switch threads one is reading, etc. If one is reading a very long thread with lots of replies and then typing a longish response, there is no way for the site to know you're there. Scrolling to read and typing in this message box does not get to the server.
I rarely log out of the site, just "leave" and so the site has to log me out with the timer. I wouldn't want it set any longer as I wouldn't want to be listed as here when I'm not. I think too, how many people can be on the site at once is limited and so the timer needs to be set as it is so at peak times, people not responding are logged off and new ones allowed to enter. But I think too, that's partially why the length of threads is limited to 100 posts.

I hate when that happens. Sometimes when I take a long time to write a post or response, if I think it is possible that it could have timed out, I 'copy' the post before clicking Submit, so if I get the timed out message, I can just log back in and 'paste' it.
I would like to know how long it has to be idle before timing out. |

i think its about an hour before PC considers you logged out..
if you go to the forumns at 4:30 and lets say you go watch a movie but you leave the page on. well, about an hour later, it will say you logged off at 4:30 under your last activity, even if youre still there and logged on... :P --bluegirl |

If you tick the 'remember me' tab you won't get logged out much.

I logged in on my pc in Dec when I got it for my birthday and have never had to log back in. I click that little "remember me" box and it just automatically keeps me logged in. This is my pc though, no one else has access to it, I wouldn't do that if someone else could read it.
